Why is it important to let ExCelAP® dry?
ExCelAP® is a formulation that contains a combination of 7.5% Povidone-Iodine (PVP-I) and 72% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA). The majority of IPA’s effectiveness is achieved during the drying process. So while the formulation is non-irritating if occluded before drying, it will not be as effective as if it were allowed to dry completely. Also, incomplete drying may adversely affect the adhesion of subsequently applied dressings.
